Chance for blind children to play hockey

First Published:

Kids strapped on their skates for some play time on the ice in Burlington Friday.

Courage Canada, an organization that gives visually impaired children the chance to learn to skate and play hockey, held a skating session at Appleby Arena in the morning. The event was held in partnership with the national non-profit organization “Accessible Media”. Guiding the kids on the rink were seventeen volunteers from the Halton Region, as well as members from the Toronto Ice Owls blind hockey team.

This season, over 400 visually impaired kids and youth are participating in Courage Canada’s skating and hockey programs across the country.
