Celebrate National Caesar Day with a twist on the classic

First Published:

Looking to celebrate National Caesar Day tomorrow with a new twist on an old favourite? The co-founder of Zirkova Vodka, Katherine Vellinga, showed us how to make a smokey caesar.

1. There are two ways to capture smoke- either use a Smoking Gun or sticks from outside. For the latter, gather:
A stick from a tree (from the ground) that is 4-5″ to fit in past the neck of the bottle
BBQ Lighter
Use a Zirkova bottle as it has a nice cork
Wooden cutting board

2. Capture the smoke inside the Zirkova bottle
Use a wooden cutting board
Take cork off the bottle
Light stick and position it holding it upright on the cutting board
Once it is on fire, overturn the bottle over the stick.
You will see the bottle filling up with smoke, as it is trapped inside the bottle.
Once you have lots of smoke in the bottle, it is time to cork it, without the stick in it of course.
Have the cork upside down and ready to go, put the upside down bottle right on top of the cork as quickly as you can to trap the smoke inside.

3. Combine all of our liquids for the Caesar:
9-12 ounces of Clamato juice of choice depending on desired strength

3 ounces of Zirkova Together
Several dashes of Worcheshire Sauce
Several dashes of Tabasco to spice it up

4. Put the liquid inside the smoky bottle.
Have a funnel to help yourself move quickly
Pop off cork, insert funnel, pour liquid in and cap it off again
Cap it as quick as possible
Shake the bottle

5. Rim glass and put ice in

6. Fill glass with Caesar mixture

7. Add specialty ingredients:
Horseradish
BBQ sauce to make it smokier
Maple syrup to add sweetness

8. Stir it to blend ingredients

9. Garnish
Celery
Pickled beans
Bacon or Kolbassa / Sausages on skewers
Veggies on skewers like baby tomatoes, peppers and zucchini

Enjoy!
