Haldimand County OPP have arrested and charged a Cayuga man with multiple criminal and traffic offences following a traffic stop over the weekend.

Police say that early Sunday morning a car travelling on Munsee St. North caught the attention of officers.

When police stopped the vehicle, both the driver and the passenger tried to flee on foot.

The officer apprehended the driver and placed him under arrest when he showed signs of alcohol impairment.

A search of the vehicle turned up a quantity of cocaine and further investigation revealed the car was stolen.

19-year-old Nicholas Dresser of Cayuga faces 11 charges including impaired driving, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of cocaine, several offences related to his G1 license and driving with improper rear and tail lights.

Police say they continue to search for the passenger who fled the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police immediately.
