These days, working for one employer for most of your life is uncommon but 2 Hamilton siblings are getting ready to clock out for the last time after working a combined 65 years at a popular banquet hall.

According to a survey by Workopolis, between 1990 and 2000, 60% of Canadians said they’ve been at a job for over 4 years, since then, that number’s been cut in half. So it’s safe to say that Frank and Barbara Wilson are a part of the extreme minority. Until Frank and Barbara leave their positions at Carmen’s banquet centre next month, very few people have them beat when it comes to seniority.

Frank, who’s 82 years old has been working at Carmen’s since…well, since before online job postings were a thing, “there was an ad in the paper for server at an off-premise on Concession street where I started.” A couple years later, Frank recruited his youngest sister Barbara, now 74, to join in on the fun.

Barb and Frank have worked about 5 000 weddings and have rubbed shoulders with countless celebrities. So you’d think at 82 and 74 years old they would be done working but, that’s not the case, they don’t plan on slowing down any time soon. In fact, Frank’s already on the market! “I don’t want to sit at home and watch TV, which I watch all the time, but I’d like to do a couple days a week somewhere.” While Barb is putting pen to paper. “I’m in the midst of writing a book about banquetts, ettiquete, serving.”
