The Ontario NDP wants to ensure the Liberals call key witnesses to the ongoing gas plant investigation.

Provincial police have been investigating Dalton McGuinty’s former chief of staff, David Livingston, over hard drives in the premier’s office. Livingston allegedly used a computer technician and boyfriend of the former deputy chief of staff to clear off gas plant information from the hard drives.

The technician, Peter Faist is currently in British Columbia with girlfriend Laura Miller. Miller is now the executive director of the B.C. Liberal party. The opposition parties are hoping Faist will take part in the gas plant investigation.

Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath: “Does the acting premier agree that it is important that Laura Miller and Peter Faist come back from British Columbia to be part of the gas plant investigation and will the acting premier commit that the Ontario Liberals will send that message to the B.C. Liberals.”

Government house leader John Milloy: “There’s an ongoing police investigation, let’s have the police undertake their work. There’s a committee of this legislature who is considering this matter and is wondering which witnesses to bring forward, it is their right to put forward and to engage those witnesses put forward. Let’s leave it to the committee to do their work.”

Faist’s lawyer has said he denies any wrongdoing. MPPs continue to call him to testify before the legislative committee.
