Its been ten years now since a judge ordered an injunction ordering all protesters off the Douglas Creek Estates land in Caledonia.

The anniversary of the land reclamation was marked on Thursday with an event at McMaster University. b

Back in 2006 there was a dispute over the land that was supposed to be developed into Douglas Creek Estates

The protests went on for months and the dispute still isn’t fully resolved.

Dawn Martin Hill produced a film about the history and events of the land reclamation. It was shown at McMaster to mark the 10th anniversary

Hill says many are still feeling the emotional scars and it’s had a lasting impact on the relationship between Six Nations and Caledonia residents

Through Hill’s film she wants people to understand that they need to work together to resolve these land issues.

Now a decade later a large parcel of land set for development is also generating controversy and it’s just a few kilometres away from the former Douglas Creek Estates
