Burlington man arrested and charged after foot chase on QEW

A Burlington man faces charges after a bizarre incident on the QEW Wednesday afternoon.

Halton police say an officer spotted a vehicle speeding on Sutton Rd. in Burlington around 2:30 p.m. The vehicle sped away as police tried to pull it over.

The same vehicle was seen speeding westbound on the QEW, near Walkers Line, travelling about 180 km/h. Police say it was weaving in and out of traffic and travelling along the shoulder.

Before police arrived on scene, the driver stopped the vehicle in the centre lane near the Skyway Bridge, got out and crossed the centre median on foot.

According to police, the man tried to stop vehicles travelling in the eastbound lanes of the highway and was seen trying to open doors of at least three vehicles.

Officers chased the man and he was arrested.

Dariusz Horosz, 43, has been charged with flight from police, dangerous operation, breach of probation and possession of a controlled substance.
