Brantford teacher charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation

First Published:

A teacher in Brantford is facing multiple charges in connection with the sexual assault of a student more than 20 years ago.

Back in April, police launched an investigation into an allegation involving an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student at a local high school.

The Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit began looking into the alleged incidents that took place over two decades ago.

On Friday, Brantford police said they had arrested and charged a teacher with two counts of sexual exploitation and two counts of sexual assault.

Investigators are not releasing any further details regarding the ages or gender of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.

Police say the teacher was still working with a local school board at the time of the arrest and has since been put on leave “pending the outcome of the court proceedings.”

They say the investigation is active however, at this time, no more victims have not been identified.

Anyone with further information or those who made need to report an incident can contact Brantford police at 519-756-0013.
