Brantford police arrest 20-year-old on child pornography charges

First Published:

Brantford police have arrested a 20-year-old on child pornography charges in ongoing Project Dilemma.

The project was started by the Brantford police ICE unit in October 2021 to address social media platforms such as Snapchat being used to distribute and possess child pornography images.

The latest arrest is a result of information that a social media account has uploaded a video containing child pornography. Police investigation found that the social media account was linked to a registered address in Brantford.

On January 31, police executed a search warrant at a Marlborough Street residence at which time several electronic devices were seized and held for forensic examination.

Police say during forensic examination of the devices, they identified files containing images and video of child pornography.

As a result of the investigation, 20-year-old Anish Devgan, of Brantford, stands charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of making child pornography available.

Police say they believe further individuals will be arrested and charges laid as they continue their investigation and forensically examine the seized electronic devices.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact police.
