Brantford man found not criminally responsible in the death of his father

First Published:

A Brantford judge ruled that 22 year old Adam Alishaw had “no capacity to make a rational decision and no ability to appreciate what society would think of his actions,” a year after his father was killed.

52 year old Mohammed Alishaw was beaten with a hammer and stabbed to death in a commercial plaza in May 3, 2018.

At around 2 a.m. that day Adam Alishaw called 9-1-1, “I just killed a man. I’ll see you when you get here.”

According to the Brantford Expositor, the court heard that Adam Alishaw has schizophrenia and extreme delusions. He was sent back to the care of the mental health unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, where he has been since the death of his father.
