Brantford man charged with manslaughter following fatal altercation

Brantford police have upgraded charges against a 23-year-old man following a deadly fight in the city.

Police and paramedics were called to a disturbance in the area of Sheridan St. and George St. around 2 a.m. on Sept. 12.

Emergency crews located a 37-year-old man suffering from serious life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital where he died three days later.

Police determined there had been a verbal altercation that turned violent between the victim and a 23-year-old man.

Connor Gibson, of Brantford, was initially arrested and charged with aggravated assault. However, that charge has now been upgraded to manslaughter.

Police are not looking for any other suspects but are urging anyone who may have witnessed the altercation near Market and George streets to contact Det. Ryan Groen at 519-756-0113, ext. 2206.
