Brantford house explosion

First Published:

A Brantford woman is still unaccounted for after her home exploded Thursday afternoon.

The explosion damaged as many as 30 neighbouring homes.

Brantford Mayor Chris Friel says six houses have extensive damage.

Investigators from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office are back in the area Friday to examine the debris.

Family and neighbours have identified the missing woman as Nancy Grasso.

Her husband Henry Grasso said “Something drastically happened between five in the morning and 2:15. And I don’t know what it is. We don’t have any gas appliances in the house. All we’ve got is, there’s the furnace and the hot water tank. There’s no gas appliances at all. Even the barbeque…we have a separate propane tank. So it’s a mystery. I just don’t know.”

One other woman suffered minor injuries from flying debris.
