(Updated) CHCH News has learned that the alleged gunman in a weekend shooting in east Hamilton is 25 year old Fred Pearce (above, right).

He is believed to have burst into the apartment above his on Queenston Rd on Sunday, and fired shots that seriously injured two people, and forced two others to jump out of a third-storey balcony. Pearce died of a gunshot wound in the incident, but police have not confirmed if the wound was self-inflicted.

Reports say the four victims in the apartment did not know the gunman.

Homicide detectives have not spoken publicly since the attack, but are investigating to see if Pearce had a history of mental health issues.

Brandon Clark (above, left), son of former Hamilton councillor and MPP Brad Clark, was one of the men injured in the shooting. Clark’s family says Brandon had a third surgery last night, but he’s expected to make a complete recovery. He is also breathing on his own. However, he’s been put in a medically-induced coma for the next two days.

His family also says he remembers all of the terrifying details of a man with a shotgun bursting into his friend’s apartment and opening fire. Clark’s friend Scott Morin is also in hospital.
