Boy, 16, charged after fight leads to stabbing: Durham police

A 16-year-old boy has been charged following a stabbing at a beach party in Pickering, Ont.

It happened shortly after midnight Saturday on Beachpoint Promenade and West Shore Blvd.

Police say a 17-year-old boy got into a fight with another teen when he was stabbed.

He was taken to a Toronto-area hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, carry a concealed weapon and fail to comply.

He has been held for a bail hearing.
