Boy, 14, sexually assaulted at Gage Park: Hamilton police

First Published:

Hamilton police are investigating after a 14-year-old boy was sexually assaulted at Gage Park.

It happened around 6 p.m. on July 1 near the main water fountain at the park.

Police say the teen was approached by a man in his thirties who was travelling on a mountain bike.

“The suspect had a brief conversation with him and proceeded to slap the victim’s buttocks,” said police in a news release.

Police say they have been investigating the incident since it was initially reported but are now seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.

He is described by police as white, roughly five-foot-eight, with tanned skin, short brown hair, and a heavy build. The man was wearing a light blue plaid shirt, beige cargo shorts, and was riding a mountain bike with the seat raised to handlebar height.

Anyone with information that could help police with the investigation is asked to contact Det. Carmen Pietroniro at 905-546-3856.
