Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan dies at age 53

Veteran Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan, known for his roles in “Slumdog Millionaire” and “Life of Pi”, has died after a battle with a rare form of cancer.

Khan died in hospital Wednesday after being admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital with a colon infection.

In 2018, he was diagnosed with a rare neuroendocrine cancer and underwent months of treatment in the United Kingdom.

Khan received multiple awards for his work in film.

He is survived by his wife, television writer and producer Sutapa Sikdar, and sons, Babil and Ayan.
