BlackBerry is launching a new smartphone, less than a year after releasing the Priv.

The company says the DTEK50 is its thinnest phone and will be its second device powered by Android.

BlackBerry is also beefing up security saying its newest designs will protect the users.

BlackBerry has faced disappointing sales but CEO John Chen says they are not inclined to get out of the hardware business.

The phone will retail for C$429.
