Attempted murder charge laid in Hamilton parking lot fight

Hamilton Police have upgraded charges in a fight that left a man with serious injuries.

The fight happened outside the Bottoms Up Bar & Grill on Barton St. E on May 30.

Police say a 32-year-old man was badly hurt, with cuts to his face and neck.

The other man ran away. Officers located him a few blocks away.

At the time, he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and breach of probation.

The assault charge has since been upgraded to attempted murder.

Officers have located a weapon in a sewer close to where the fight happened.

26-year-old Jesse Patey remains in custody.
