Arrest warrant issued for Burlington man for municipal elections act and criminal code offences

Update 2: The criminal charges of fraud and forgery against Sean Baird were withdrawn by the crown on September 8, 2020.   Charges of corruption under the Municipal Elections Act pertaining to third party spending have yet to be heard. Scheduling is on hold due to the pandemic according to Burlington courts.

Update:  Sean Baird turned himself in to police on December 26, 2019.  He is scheduled to appear in court February 18, 2020

A warrant has been issued for a 47-year-old Burlington businessman who is facing charges under the municipal elections act.

Police say the man was behind attack ads targeting then-candidate Marianne Meed-Ward during the 2018 Burlington mayoral election.
