Mom speaks out about arrest made in Hamilton hit and run that seriously injured her daughter

First Published:

The mother of a hit and run victim says Hamilton Police have arrested the person responsible for putting her daughter in the hospital with serious injuries.

“I just think you’re a coward,” Liz Allen declared. “And I think that anybody that can hit a person and drive away like they don’t matter deserves to do a lot of jail time.”

Allen’s daughter 19-year-old Maddy Allen is still recovering in hospital after being hit last weekend in the area of Barnesdale Boulevard and Main Street East. She was walking home with her fiancé and they were only a few doors away when a blue Honda Civic side-swiped another car which then drove up onto the sidewalk and hit Maddy. The driver of the car took off.

The teen has several injuries including a broken femur, which the largest bone in the leg.

Hamilton Police Media Relations have not been available for comment on the arrest.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Maddy with her medical expenses.
