Around $500K in damage after Hamilton industrial fire

A fire at 220 Gage Ave. N in Hamilton resulted in approximately $500,000 in damage this morning.

Hamilton Fire Department received reports of an industrial business fire at Central Hamilton Electric around 5:39 a.m.

First arriving crews say flames were visible through the roof.

Hamilton Fire say the alarm was immediately upgraded and additional resources were dispatched to the scene.

Crews were able to gain control of the fire in 30 minutes after initiating an interior attack mainly in the south-east area of the building.

Reports say there is extensive smoke and water damage in the building.

The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical in nature.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
