Another COVID-19 outbreak declared at a Hamilton school

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at St. Eugene Catholic Elementary School in Hamilton.

It’s the third outbreak of the virus within the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board.

The board says there are three confirmed cases of the virus at the school. One in a staff member, one in a student and one in a third-party employee.

Two classrooms/cohorts have been closed as a result.

An outbreak was also declared at St. Ann Hamilton, with three confirmed cases there.

St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Elementary School also has an outbreak with nine confirmed cases. The school closed last Friday.

The board says there are 15 schools with confirmed cases of COVID-19. There are 17 students and 14 staff members with the virus.

Hamilton’s public school board is dealing with one outbreak at A.M. Cunningham Elementary School, with two student cases of the virus.

Since Monday, eight cases of COVID-19 have been identified in students and staff at schools. Three students doing remote learning have also tested positive.
