Another 17 year old charged with stunt driving in Hamilton

Hamilton police have charged another 17-year-old boy with stunt driving on the Red Hill Valley Parkway.

Police say a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro was seen travelling northbound at a high rate of speed on the parkway around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The investigation found the vehicle was going 143 kilometres an hour, 53 kilometres over the posted speed limit.

Police pulled the vehicle over and charged the 17 year old driver with stunt driving.

The registered owner of the Camaro, the boy’s mother, was notified and is responsible for the vehicle tow and impoundment charges for the next seven days.

The boy’s licence was seized at the scene and he received a seven-day license suspension.

He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Less than two weeks ago, police charged another 17 year old with stunt driving after he was clocked going 157 kilometres an hour on the parkway.

Penalties for stunt driving can include drivers license suspension up to two years, seven demerit points and if convicted, a driver can be fined between $2,000 and $10,000.
