The Transportation Safety Board says an Air Canada plane that crashed at the Halifax airport early Sunday hit an antenna array before landing on the runway.

Air Canada said it was safe for pilots to land the plane that crashed in a snowstorm.

25 of the 133 passengers onboard were sent to hospital.

The incident happened at 12:43 a.m Sunday. The airbus A320 landed hard and skidded off the runway.

Some passengers spent over an hour in the cold before they were shuttled to safety.

Air Canada’s chief operating officer, Klaus Goersch, said it was safe to fly in the snowy conditions and was comforted there were no fatalities.

Goersch said the pilots, each with 15 years experience, suffered minor injuries.

The Transportation Safety Board stated they will have a full team of investigators at the scene by Monday morning.
