A dozen “tall ships” from around the world are sailing through Niagara

The pride of Baltimore 2, it was built in 1987 after the original ship sank the previous year.

Trailed by the “Niagara”, the two ships are going through the region. The tall ships are motoring through the Welland Canal on their way to Buffalo for the fourth of July, but it gave ship enthusiasts in this area a chance to see them up close.

A replica of the Santa Maria Christopher Columbus flag ship. Elliot Barraclough and his girlfriend drove all the way from Toronto to catch a glimpse of the ships some built more than 90 years ago.

The ships will be on display during a festival in Buffalo until July 7th but only after the 17-hour journey down the Welland Canal.
