Milton high school in lockdown, 6 youths in custody

First Published:

Six male youths have been taken into custody at Bishop P.F. Reding Catholic Secondary School in Milton after a reported threat.

The high school along with Chris Hadfield Public School and St. Peter’s Catholic Elementary School were initially ordered to ‘hold in place’ due to police activity in the area around noon Thursday. Bishop Reding was upgraded to a lockdown a short time later.

According to the high school’s Twitter account, police were inside the building conducting an investigation and officers secured the perimeter of the property.

Police had received information about a group of males chasing another youth with a gun in the area.

Halton police say all staff and students at the schools are safe.

The lock down was lifted once all suspects were in custody. Police did find a knife and pellet gun.
