Teen driver charged with drunk driving following crash: OPP

First Published:

An 18-year-old driver has been charged impaired driving after allegedly crashing his vehicle into a ditch in Huron County.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police were called to a collision on Moncrieff Rd. just before 10 p.m. last Friday.

Police say a vehicle was seen driving erratically before it left the roadway and crashed.

Officers spoke with the driver and administered a breath test, which the teen subsequently failed.

He was placed under arrest and transported to a police station for further testing. “He later provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit,” said OPP in a news release.

Police also located a quantity of cannabis while searching the driver’s vehicle.

The teen’s license has been suspended for an automatic 90 days and his vehicle was seized.
