What’s open and closed over the Easter weekend

Here’s a look at what’s open and closed this Easter weekend in and around the Golden Horseshoe Area.

Government offices and other services
Government offices and municipal buildings are closed from Good Friday to Easter Monday. Also, there will be no mail delivered on Friday and Monday.
Banks will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Some may be open on Easter Monday so check your local banks.

Garbage Collection
There is no change to garbage collection in Niagara and Halton regions. In Hamilton, there will be no garbage pickup on Friday. Friday’s pickup will happen on Saturday and regular collection resumes Monday.

Grocery stores
Most grocery stores will be closed on Friday and Sunday, but some are open.

Transit
GO Transit is on a Sunday schedule on Friday .
The HSR will be operating on a Sunday/Holiday Schedule on Friday and weekday schedule on Monday.

Beer and Liquor
All LCBO and Beer Store locations will be closed on Friday and Sunday.

Libraries
All Hamilton, Lincoln and Brantford Public Library branches will be closed Friday, Sunday and Monday, but will be open Saturday. Burlington and Niagara Falls Public Library branches are closed Friday and Sunday, open Saturday and Monday.

Shopping centres
Most malls will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Tourist attractions
Many tourist attractions will be open over the Easter weekend including the CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium, Toronto Zoo and Royal Ontario Museum. The Art Gallery of Hamilton is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and closed Monday.
