OPP investigates after human remains found in Campbellford

Police are investigating after human remains were found in the town of Campbellford.

Officers were called to a park on County Road 50 around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Ontario Provincial Police says some passersby discovered the remains inside a wooded area of a park.

“The investigation is in the early stages and the identity of the remains is still unknown,” said the OPP in a news release. “The Coroner attended the scene and the human remains have been sent to the Center of Forensic Sciences where a post mortem examination will be conducted.”

Police say there is no concern for public safety at this time.

They say the investigation is ongoing and further information will be released when it becomes available.
