Crashed Ice competition

First Published:

A pair of local cousins are about to head to Japan to represent Canada at the kick off to the “Crashed Ice” season.

If you’ve never heard of the sport it’s a little different. The athletes are dressed like hockey players, but skate down an ice hill.

27 year old Jacqueline Legere is a two time world champion. She’s been doing this for 8 years.

She will be going to Yokohama Japan this weekend and she won’t be going alone. She’s inspired her 17 year old cousin Aden to take up the sport, this will be his second big race.

They both live in St. George, near Brantford, but once a week they drive to Markham to train.

The upcoming race is the beginning of the Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championships. The other stops include Finland and Boston.
