Trump recommends 50% tariff on EU amid stalled trade negotiations

U.S. President Donald Trump is keeping the global economy on its toes, this time calling out the EU for being “difficult to deal with.”

He took to truth social Friday, saying he’ll be recommending a “straight 50 per cent tariff on the European Union,” as trade negotiations have seemingly stalled.

It came less than thirty minutes after he threatened to impose tariffs of at least 25 per cent on tech giant Apple, if the company does not start manufacturing their Iphones in the U.S.

Trump says he’s upset over the lack of progress in trade talks with the EU, one of many nations trying to strike a deal before the president’s 90-day pause on tariff hikes comes to an end.

The EU reportedly proposed mutually cutting tariffs, though Trump is insistent on his 10 per cent baseline figure.
