91-year-old man dead following 2-vehicle collision in Niagara

A 91-year-old man is dead after he was involved in a two-vehicle collision in Niagara-on-the-Lake yesterday afternoon.

Niagara Regional Police say the man was driving a 2015 Mini Cooper east on Glendale Ave. when it collided with a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer heading in the opposite direction.

Witnesses at the scene reportedly attempted life-saving measures on the 91-year-old man as he was unresponsive after the collision.

The man was then taken to hospital by Niagara EMS where he was pronounced deceased.

Police say the driver of the Chevrolet Blazer was not physically harmed during the collision.

Roads in the areas such as Glendale Ave. and Homer Rd. both faced closures for several hours while police investigated.

Members of the Collision Reconstruction Unit have taken charge of the investigation with help from the Forensic Services Unit.

Police say they continue to investigate the cause of the collision and appeal to drivers with dash cameras in the area at the time to review their footage.
