40 year-old man charged with sexual assault

Niagara Police say 40 year-old Aaron Jacob Davis, with no fixed address has been arrested and charged with sexual assault.

On August 26th around 1:30 pm, officers met with a teenage female victim, under 18 years-old, who was sexually assaulted in a wooded area on Merritt Island in Welland. Police say the victim just met the man approximately an hour before the incident.

After further investigation a man was arrested. Davis is being held in custody and will attend a video bail hearing to the Robert S. K. Welch Court House in St. Catharines today.

Investigators are trying to identify and speak to an unknown man and women who allegedly gave the victim a ride from the scene to get help.

No further information is available on the two witnesses.
