Three teens have been arrested after a man was robbed and assaulted on a local street in Hamilton.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, four youths approached a 53-year-old man who was alone on the sidewalk near King St. West and Bay St. North.

Police say the man was assaulted and robbed of his cellphone. The suspects fled on foot and the victim and a witness gave chase.

Officers were called to the area and the thieves split up in an attempt to run from police.

Three of the four suspects were located and taken into custody. The fourth remains outstanding.

He is described by police as black, in his late teens and was wearing a dark brown jacket with a hood.

Three boys, aged 15, 16, and 17, are all facing robbery charges. Police learned two of the boys were bound by court orders and charged them with fail to comply release order. The 16-year-old also faces one count of obstruct peace officer.

The trio is expected to appear in court Wednesday.

Anyone with additional information that could help police is asked to contact Det. John Obrovac at 905-546-3816 or Det. Sgt. Dave Oleniuk at 905-546-3833.
