Looking to add a pop of colour to your outfits this winter?
Fashion expert Natalie Sexton joined Annette Hamm on Morning Live to show us how to refresh our look during the dark and dreary months.
“I think it’s a great time to add a few pieces to your wardrobe,” Sexton said. “We can still do winter textures and winter pieces but let’s brighten things up a bit.”
Instant Sunshine with Yellow
The first way to incorporate more colour into your outfits is by wearing pops of yellow.
“I think yellow is one of those colours that are cheerful,” she said. “It kind of makes us feel better.”
In the video above, Sexton paired a yellow maxi skirt and a white sweater embellished with yellow lemons from Vero Moda. She also added a green purse and earrings from a Hamilton jeweller.
Play With Unexpected Pastels
Another approach is to wear soft hues of pastels such as blue, pink or purple.
“Pastels are something we equate with springtime but we can wear them now,” Sexton said.
In the video above, she wore a purple plaid sweater with white boots. All of the items were under $50 at Winners.
Get Bold With Hot Pink
The final way to make a statement is to wear a bold pink shacket.
“This is the perfect topper for all of your black or neutral monochromatic outfits,” Sexton said. “I would suggest sizing up one size to be able to layer all kinds of knits and sweats underneath.”
She paired the shacket with an orange bag to play with the colour block trend.
