A 16-year-old girl has died in hospital just two days after being pulled from a house fire in Thorold.
Fire crews were called to a home on Maitland St. near Colborne St. around 11 a.m. Saturday.
The blaze started in the upper level of the girl’s grandmother’s home.
The 70-year-old grandmother made it out of the house safely after making several attempts to rescue the teenager.
First responders located the girl inside the home suffering from critical injuries. She was taken to a local hospital before being transported to an out of town trauma centre.
Niagara police say the girl died from her injuries on Monday.
The fire is still under investigation by police and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office.
