Trudeau joins in panda celebration

First Published:

Prime Minister Trudeau visited the Toronto Zoo today for a panda cub celebration as the zoo announced the winning names for the two giant panda cubs born last October. The names were revealed as Jai Panpan, Canadian for Hope and Jai Yueyue, Canadian for Joy.

Premiere Kathleen Wynne and Toronto Mayor John Tory were also there.

The two cubs were born last October to their parents, Er Shun and Da Mao. They have been living in a maternity den with their mother since then.

Up until this point the public has only been able to see the cubs via videos released by the Toronto Zoo, but the cubs will now be introduced to the public in mid-March.
