An eleven year old Tillsonburg girl born with a rare condition hopes to inspire people with a song she composed and wrote herself. And after posting it on youtube, she’s getting encouragement from people who’ve listened it.
Cindy Csordas met Charlotte Bolton today, and has her story.
Charlotte Bolton loves to sing. The 11 year old Tillsonburg girl was born with a condition called dwarfism. But her almost four foot high stature isn’t about to stunt any of her personal development. “You can do whatever you like do let anybody hold you back maybe try something new that you didn’t think you could do before. ” Charlotte’s written a song called “Strong”
She hopes her song will inspire people. Especially next month, when the Para Pan Am games will highlight athletes who have disabilities compete in sport. Even though Charlotte is slightly bow legged and she can’t straighten her arms like most people she still plays soccer, she skis and participates in track and field. Her song took her father Scot, by surprise. “She played it for me and I stood behind her and watched and read the words as she played and was like teary eyed…it was kind of amazing.”
Charlottes music teacher, Alison Schott thought the song was so amazing she suggested putting it on youtube. “I was completely moved and anybody that knows me knows I would cry…and Charlotte is willing to share that gift and I though it needed to be heard.” It’s been viewed thousands of times.
Charlotte’s only real complication is that she’ll likely never grow taller than 4 and a half feet. But she’s monitored regularly by sick kids in Toronto for any deficiencies with her immune system.
She composed this song all by herself and is taking steps to enlighten the lives of others.
