We are less than three weeks to go until Christmas, which means we are running out time when it comes to shopping.
While shopping state side has been proven to save a little cash in the past, is it still worth it with the exchange rate? And are people still making the drive south of the boarder?
At the Fashion Outlets in Niagara Falls New York, the Canadian plates are few and far in between, but some still choose to cross over and say there are still deals to be found.
So the question is, with the exchange rate and the duty at the boarder, is it worth it to find a deal ? Or does it come down to more of an experience.
A Ralph Lauren polo shirt at the American outlets for $69.99. In Canada, the same polo shirt is $74.99 to $89.99. A button down shirt at Ralph Lauren in the States is $74.99. With the exchange that shirt would be just over $100 Canadian, not including exchange, fees and duty at boarder . In Canada $84.99 for the same shirt. So it’s cheaper at home, around $15 dollars less.
So there are deals to be found in the states, you just have to look for sale days like 20% to 50% percent off your purchase. But a lot of stores in Canada are also offering deep discounts.
So with gas, tolls and exchange rates, well it’s your call to make.
