10-year-old tennis player competes at Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games

First Published:

10-year-old Isabella Yan is one of the youngest athletes at the Canada Summer Games in Niagara. While most 10-year-olds across the country spend their last few weeks relaxing before school starts, Yan is representing team Saskatchewan on the tennis court.

Yan is the youngest member of her team and this is her first time competing in the Canada Summer Games.

Yan has been playing tennis since she was 7 years old and she says she trains roughly 1.5-2 hours per day.

Yan says competing can be intimidating because she plays against older teens, but her advice to other young athletes is to stay focused and work hard.

“Just try your best. You’re really young so you have so many years ahead of you.”

Yan will be back on the tennis court on Friday.
