York traffic officer struck, killed

A York Regional Police officer is dead, after becoming trapped underneath a vehicle during a routine traffic stop.

Constable Garrett Styles, 32, stopped a vehicle east of Newmarket, at Herald Road and Highway 48 in East Gwillimbury, at approximately 4:50 am.
Police say Styles was struck by a passing vehicle, and pinned underneath it.
He was taken to South Lake Regional Health Centre where he died of his injuries.
There are reports two teens have been arrested – a boy and a girl – believed to be 15 years old; and that the driver is also in hospital with serious injuries. However police haven’t confirmed that yet.
