Today is World No Tobacco Day and the Trudeau government is preparing to move ahead with plans to require plain packaging for all tobacco products.

Health Minister Jane Philpott is scheduled to detail the proposal today, which will involve standardizing box sizes and prohibiting colours, logos and graphics on tobacco packs. Imperial tobacco vows to fight what it calls any excessive, ineffective regulation, arguing it has the right to brand the products that adult consumers purchase.
