Woman struck and killed while out jogging in Cayuga

The Ontario Provincial Police is investigating after a woman was struck and killed by an out-of-control pickup truck in Cayuga.

Police say around 7:50 a.m. Monday, a black Dodge Ram pickup truck was travelling on Concession 5 near Kohler Rd. when the 20-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle.

The truck hit a 47-year-old woman who was jogging along the roadway. The woman was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck was also taken to hospital as a pre-cautionary measure.

OPP have not yet released the victim’s identity.

Police are continuing to investigate the collision and are seeking the public’s assistance. Anyone who may have information that could help police is asked to contact the Haldimand County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
