A 37-year-old woman is facing charges after allegedly defrauding her employer of more than $554,000.

A Fort Erie dentist reached out to police in November 2017 over concerns that his General Manager was defrauding his practice.

The alleged incident happened sometime between December 2014 and November 2017.

The Niagara Police Central Fraud Unit issued a warrant for the employee’s arrest and on Wednesday, the woman was arrested at the Rainbow Bridge when she was crossing into Canada.

Jennifer Leslie, of St. Catharines, is charged with fraud over $5,000 and laundering proceeds of crime.

She was scheduled to appear in a St. Catharines court on Thursday.
