On Friday afternoon, Niagara and Welland police were investigating by the Niagara River as part of an on going murder investigation. Toronto Police have confirmed that the search was in regard to the disappearance of Shawn Kapadia, who went missing in Welland last year.

The case had been ongoing since in various places including the Wellington Now construction site and the Niagara River areas. Police believe Kapadia’s remains to be encased in a concrete block and may have been dumped in the water on July 12, 2015 by an old model Jon Deere Backhoe. The vehicle was located in a yard near highway 420 and the QEW in Niagara.

Niagara Police have yet to confirm if the investigation today was related or if it yielded any results in the search.
