Weather and road conditions prompt school and bus closures

Poor weather and road conditions prompted closures and cancellations in Hamilton and the surrounding region.

School closures:

  • Hamilton Wentworth District School Board has closed school and cancelled buses
  • Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board has closed schools and cancelled buses
  • Halton District School Board and Halton District Catholic School Boards have closed schools and cancelled buses
  • Peel District School Board is closed, buses and all before and after school programs are cancelled
  • Grand Erie District School Board has cancelled schools and buses
  • Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic and French Catholic School Board has cancelled schools and buses
  • Glenn Arbour Academy in Burlington is closed
  • Imagineer’s Early Learning Centre in Hamilton is closed
  • Hamilton District Christian High School is closed
  • Trinity Christian School in Burlington is closed
  • Colin Macdonald Community School in Hamilton is closed
  • Calvin Christian School in Hamilton is closed
  • All Childventures Early Learning Academies are closed
  • Tiny Hoppers Early Learning Centre in Stoney Creek is closed
  • Appleby College in Oakville is closed
  • Little Angels’ Infant and Toddler Centre is closed
  • Millgrove Children’s Centre and Millgrove Majors Children’s Centre are closed

Wilfrid Laurier University’s Waterloo and Brantford campuses are closed until 11 a.m. Monday.

The University of Guelph is open and says regular operations have  resumed.

Mohawk College says it’s open and exams will go on as scheduled today but students who have run into childcare issues should email their professors to reschedule.

The Niagara Catholic District School Board says it’s a regular day for them.

The District School Board of Niagara has not made any announcements, which typically means it’s a regular day.

Other closures: 

  • YWCA Hamilton has cancelled all non-essential services
  • Sherwood Centre on Fennell Ave. is closed
  • Milton Community Resource Centre is closed
  • Ancaster Community Services is closed today and all program cancelled
  • Classes scheduled before 4 p.m. at  Dundas Valley School of Art are cancelled
  • VON Hamilton Meals on Wheels is cancelled
  • McMaster Student Union Child Care Centre is closed
  • Sherwood Centre on Fennell Ave. is closed
  • The Centre for Skills Development & Training in Burlington, Milton, Oakville and Clarkson/Mississauga are closed

The City of Hamilton says all recreation centres are open with regular schedules today.

The Red Hill Family Centre is open but transportation services are cancelled.

Waste collection will happen as scheduled today.
