BBQ enthusiasts who clamoured to the the eighth annual Waterdown Oh Canada Ribfest helped break the record for the highest turnout.

Yesterday for Canada 150, 20,000 people made their way through the Ribfest gates and organizers expect over 50,000 people over the course of the weekend.

Visitors enjoyed hundreds of pounds of ribs, food vendors, and live entertainment but some people say it’s the community that brings them out to the event each year.

Six ribbers were vying for bragging rights this afternoon and the winner will be announced on Monday at 2 p.m. as Ribfest continues.
