After a brief break over the weekend, the the cold arctic air returned and crews all across the region are scrambling to repair a number of water main breaks.

Crews in Burlington said they are dealing with about 11 water main breaks in the last few days.  In Niagara, public works was so busy it took hours to respond to our request for information after three breaks just today. There’s been a spike here in Hamilton as well.

The cold temperatures combined with pipes that are past their prime are the cause according to officials.
