Vandalism is the suspected cause of a massive house fire on Walkers Line, between the 407 and Britannia Road, in Burlington. The home was completely engulfed when fire crews arrived shortly before midnight and it took several hours to get it under control. This morning they were still bringing water in from other areas to control hot spots. Firefighters from other communities were asked for help, including Hamilton and Milton.

The home, which was vacant at the time, has been completely destroyed with damage estimated to be around $400 000.

The fire marshal’s office has been contacted.
