The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been called to investigate two suspicious fires east of the town of Simcoe last night.
A vacant house as well as a garage went up in flames on Highway 3 between Blue Line and Cockshutt Roads around 11:30 pm.
Highway 3 was closed for about two and a half hours while the fires were put out.
Police also rescued several chicks from a shed on the property.
Damage is estimated between $350,000 and $375,000.
In recent months a rash of suspicious fires have been reported on both the Six Nations Reserve and in West Lincoln.
